Multi Cultural Resource. Bangladesh Cleaning Story Dolls with Drawstring Storage Bag. A wonderful resource for creating awareness of other tribes and tongues to be used in your Early Childhood Learning programs. The dolls are named Rupali, the boy who is 11 and Elgin, the girl who is 7. The cleaning story is written out onto laminated card and tells the tale of the everyday life of these children. How different their lives are too the children of Australia. The dolls are excellent for providing visual actions to the cleaning story as well as allowing for them to role play and get a sense of what it must be like to live in their village and be part of their lives. Included are two other laminated picture cards. One having a map and pinpointing where Bangladesh is located and the other showing a young woman cleaning using the small broom similar to the one held by the female doll.
The dolls are dressed in traditional Bangladesh styles. The girls usually wear Saree's with hair tied into a bun at the back and boys would wear either shirt and trousers or a loose saree cloth tied around the waist. The dolls bodies are stuffed and their features are hand embroidered. The hair is stitched in soft woolen locks. Each broom is made using Jute string. The Artisans making these dolls are working in a safe supportive enviroment at the Y.W.C.A. of Dhaka Bangladesh where they are provided training and a Fair Trade Income.
