Caxixi Small Natural

The caxixi (Ka-shee-shee) is a percussion instrument which originated in Africa and South America. It is made up of a woven basket and solid bottom filled with seeds with a handle on the top for ease of playing.

The caxixi, just like similar percussion instruments is played by shaking giving children an opportunity to further their understanding of rhythm, dynamics and musical expression. Sounds can be varied by either shaking the contents against the side of the instrument for one sound or against the base for caxixi for a different tone.
